Economic Defence is about...
Building a strong economy that will not break down during war
The government, employers and trade unions work together to ensure that our
fundamentals are strong and our economy will not break down in war or under the
threat of war. It involves building up a strong foundation to withstand external
shocks. It also means putting in place contingency plans and stockpiles of
resources to support the economy during crises. So even when our National
Servicemen and civil resources are fully mobilised, our offices and factories
will still be able to function.
Staying relevant through rapid change and development
We must constantly upgrade our skills and knowledge to stay relevant and
employable in this rapidly changing world. Our people's ability to embrace
lifelong learning and re-training is vital to keep our economy competitive.
